Kay Smith

Hi, my name is Kay and I am studying at Imperial College London.
I have experience tutoring, whether it is volunteering teaching disadvantaged students at my school, tutoring GCSE students in my neighbourhood, or planning lessons for my younger brothers during the school holidays.
I believe that everyone has the ability to learn effectively, even if they struggle to work under the teaching methods of the education system. I try my hardest to pass on the skills that I learned to my students to find the methods of learning that work best with them, for example, spaced-repetition learning, pneumonic devices, and the memory palace technique. My aim is to not only teach Maths but to also teach my students how to learn, this way they can acquire skills that can be applied in many other aspects of school and life in general.
I will preferably teach on Zoom, but I am happy to use any programme if it is more convenient. I try to make my lessons as interactive as possible to ensure that my teaching is enjoyable as well as effective. I do this by creating practice questions designed to target areas that need to be improved upon, and guided learning in which we work through problems together to ensure a complete understanding of how to solve problems.
My style of teaching is very dynamic and I try to tailor my lessons to suit each student specifically to be as effective as possible, regardless of what their current understanding of maths is.
