Lessons will be 1 or 2 hours long depending on the student's preference and my judgement on the best lesson length for them. The teaching and what specifically is taught will be based on the board of the student. This will make it so that the student is ready to approach the question types that will likely be asked in their exam.
The first lesson will be an hour long. Before the lesson, the student will be asked what topics in particular they feel they really struggle with and would like to take time going over. This will be the content of the first lesson, mainly to understand the student's main strengths and weaknesses. Then for homework before the next lesson a short test will be given testing everything they have learnt in school up to that point that will be included in their next exam. This will give me a good understanding on what aspects of the maths exam they need to work in. Then I'll be able to teach them, catering lessons to the student in question. Most of the testing I do, such as past papers will be given as homework because It is unnecessary attending a 2 hour lesson to just complete a past paper for the entire duration. However short tests may be given during the tutoring session as I'd like to be able to go over tests and questions with my students right after they've completed them as it would be fresh in their mind.
I've been teaching like this for approximately 6 months, where I would use a similar tutoring method with the younger students in my old school.
