My lessons are held online and structured around what each student actually needs — for some that means working steadily through the GCSE Maths curriculum from the start of Year 10, and for others it's about focusing on specific topics they're struggling with, or shifting towards exam technique and past papers as exams get closer.

A typical lesson starts with a quick check-in on what's been covered in school recently and where the student feels unsure, before we work through examples together; I like to break problems down step by step and make sure the reasoning behind each method makes sense, rather than just memorising steps. I then focus on specific topics based on where the student is in the course, helping learn new concepts or practice core ones. Towards the end of a session, I'll usually set a few practice questions so we can spot any gaps before moving on.

I got a grade 9 in GCSE Maths myself, and I'm currently studying Economics at the University of Bristol, which involves a lot of quantitative and mathematical work, so I've stayed close to the subject well beyond GCSE. Having sat these exams relatively recently, I have a good sense of where students commonly get stuck and how to explain things in a way that actually makes sense, rather than repeating what's already in a textbook.

Lessons are flexible around school schedules, and I'm happy to adjust pacing depending on whether a student needs more time on fundamentals or is further ahead and wants a challenge.
