A friendly, good humoured, focused and qualified English Language and Literature Teacher, based on the Herts/Essex border. I am a literacy specialist and I am the Literacy Lead for my school. My first degree is in History and I am a specialist at teaching essay writing. I also have an NPQ in Literacy.

Students make excellent progress and are responsive to my flexible teaching methods, relaxed approach and direct, 'easy to understand' teaching. Students enjoy learning with me, as I am able to adapt teaching methods based on the individuals, so that they develop their knowledge and skills and grow in confidence.

I create a comfortable and open learning environment and build rapport easily with all types of people.

I do a full skills/knowledge audit in the initial session, so that tutoring can be tailored to the specific needs of the student.

Whilst sessions are focused, I also want students to enjoy them so they embrace the sessions, try their best, have faith in their own ability, and have a determination to succeed.

I teach 11-18 year olds at a secondary school. I previously worked in sales and marketing and re-trained as a teacher 9 years ago; I used to train and coach adults in all areas of business. I also taught drama and musical theatre to 3-16 year olds at a musical theatre school, so I have a wide range of experience with adults and young people, over a number of years.
