Hello, my name is Katie Rookes, and today I’ll share a bit about my potential students, how I structure my lessons, and my teaching experience.
I primarily work with primary school-aged children, typically between 5 and 11 years old. These students are energetic, curious, and at a crucial stage of building foundational skills in reading, writing, and math. Every child has their own learning style, so I aim to create a safe space for online students. I do also focus on secondary school students but it also depends on what predicted grades are to what kind of level there at.
My lessons are structured to engage young learners while building key skills and knowledge. In my online teaching, I utilize interactive tools and resources to captivate both primary and secondary students. By incorporating a variety of activities—such as games, discussions, and hands-on projects—I ensure that each lesson is dynamic and caters to different learning styles, fostering an enjoyable and effective learning environment.
This expanded version maintains the focus on engagement and includes specific strategies you might use in online teaching for both age groups.
To keep lessons dynamic, I incorporate visual aids, games, and interactive learning tools. I believe in differentiating instruction to meet diverse needs, whether through simplifying tasks or providing challenges for advanced learners.
While I only have six months of work experience in a primary school, this time has taught me valuable classroom management, lesson planning, and student engagement skills. I look forward to continuing to grow as a teacher and making learning enjoyable for every student.
Thank you!
