I have been a qualified Maths teacher for 10 years, teaching 11-16 year old's in Secondary Schools. I like to go at the pace the pupil sets, there is no point rushing through Maths topics without taking the time to understand them. I try & use as many exam-based questions as possible to get students familiar with the layout & language that is used in their final qualifications. I will encourage as much paper-based learning as possible while written exams are set, but some online/digital resources are very useful & insightful. When i find out which exam board/scheme of learning the student is following in school, I will go away & research the scheme to create a plan for sessions to follow, including finding out what topics the student feels most confident in & which they would like support in too.
