I have previous tutoring experience from working at a math tutoring center. I have my Associate's degree in Education and I did student teaching in a middle school Spanish classroom when I was a senior in high school. I am currently working on my BSW and after I graduate I plan to go on to get my MSW. For online lessons I prefer to use google meets or zoom. I use Microsoft whiteboard. I tailor each lesson to each individual student to fit their personality and learning style and what their strengths and weaknesses are. For example, if a student enjoys music and dance or movement, I might incorporate the math topic we are working on into a song or dance moves to help the student remember what they are learning. Sometimes I will use games in my lessons. I like to get to know my students to help guide them on their learning journey. I also am there for moral support and encouragement when a student feels stuck or defeated and that they can't do something or it's to hard. I also use problem solving techniques to work together to find a solution that helps the student get unstuck. When a student needs a mental break that's okay. We can set the task we are working on aside for a few minutes and take a breather and do a fun activity or for older children maybe do some breathing exercises to help calm the mind and then come back to the task at hand.
