I am currently a Psychology teacher in training, on track to complete my FE PGCE in May 2025. I have an undergraduate in Forensic Psychology (2:1), and completed the first year of my PGCE with a first.
I have experience with learners with SEND, as well as mental health diagnoses. My main experience from this comes from a placement I attended at Swinnow Primary School Pupil Referral Unit, where I was able to work 1-to-1 with behaviourally challenged young people, and support them in their progress both academically and otherwise.
I have worked as a psychology teacher at Bede Sixth Form throughout my 2 year PGCE, with plenty of experience in teaching both Year 12 and Year 13 A Level Psychology. This work has allowed me to experiment with my pedagogy style, and gain experience in classroom management. Recently, I have also worked as a Cover Sociology Teacher for Year 12 learners at Prior Pursglove College, to gain experience with different students in a different college environment.
My lessons are engaging and interesting in order to motivate my students, with added support for those who need it and additional tasks to challenge those learners that need that extra push to achieve A*. These additional tasks often include an introduction to skills needed in University, for example reading academic journals and how to research effectively. Also, I integrate exam practice throughout all lessons, to monitor progress towards those all important exams.
I hope to bring all this experience to tutoring, to gain some alternative skills to bring to my career as a teacher.
