I have a lot of experience in tutoring younger students in maths as I take time out of my day to assist in an S1 class every week and have been known to tutor people in my class from a young age. I really enjoy maths and love being able to teach it to other people. My usual teaching method is to walk the student through an example by teaching them what to do, then to let them do the same thing back to me with some guidance and then to allow them to complete some questions on their own whilst asking questions when they get stuck. I feel that this method allows me to ask them and notice the specific parts that they find tricky and to find a way to teach a method that works for them, such as memory tools like mnemonics or thinking of something that reminds them of this method. It’s difficult to explain in words but all the students I have taught in the past have found this really helpful and it has certainly been helpful for me. I am currently studying Advanced Higher maths and feel comfortable teaching from primary school to higher maths level. I love teaching, especially maths, because to see the proud smile on a child’s face after they figure out how to do something that they have been struggling with for weeks is just heart-melting. I hope to be able to help you or child as best I can soon!!
