Hi, I'm Katie, my background is in cell biology. My interest in teaching was sparked during my PhD when I supervised a medical student through his intercalated physiology BSc project.

For the last 5 years I have dedicated myself to teaching maths and science at GCSE and biology at A level/IB. I also prepare students for the 11+/Kent test, and tutor undergraduates, predominately in biology related subjects.

I have experience teaching vulnerable children in and neurodivergent students (autism, ADHD) of all ages.

I mostly teach online (via Zoom) and it works really well, even with the younger students, because with screen sharing and online whiteboards, there is so much scope for teaching materials that lend themselves to different learning styles. This has also enabled me to teach students in countries all over Europe, the Americas and Australia from the age of 9 years old upwards.

I am passionate about my work; helping my students to realise their full potential is incredibly rewarding especially when conventional teaching/circumstances have failed to meet the needs of those students.

Do get in touch if you or your child needs a tutor in the sciences.

I have also mentored university students with ADHD through their dissertations in subjects that are outside of my academic expertise; planning, researching, structuring and referencing a dissertation are skills that apply to any subject. Having a mentor who understands the barriers to undertaking a project of this size can be reassuring and help to alleviate the sense of overwhelm that these students experience.
