With two first-class degrees from the top history programme in the UK, I combine passion for history with expertise in the craft of argument.

I believe that the key to teaching history is making the past accessible, and I strive to put people back into the historical narrative by highlighting the similarities between the past and the present. I teach not only the facts of history, but also the skills required to excel in and out of the classroom, like close reading, rhetoric, and research skills. There is a topic for everyone in the field of history, and I’ve studied most of them! From military to medical history, saints to knights, horses to dragons, ancient to modern, my flexibility and passion for the craft of history allows me to build interest in the subject.

Having worked as a historical engagement officer, I have unique experience making history accessible and engaging. I believe that we can learn the lessons of history through the episodes that interest us, allowing students to build a scaffolding of historical knowledge and skill while enjoying their special areas of interest.

Writing is part and parcel of history, and as a result, I have extensive experience in rhetoric and writing. Writing is both an art and a science, and I believe in working to draw out a students unique style while emphasizing the Pilar’s of grammar and rhetoric which promote credibility and understanding. Having written two first-class dissertations and published two works, one historical and one non-fiction prose, I teach writing in a variety of contexts, always focusing on clarity, functionality, and personality. A developed writing style is the key to success in any field and a critical tool for success, both in and out of school.
