Hey! My name is Katelyn and I am from Ireland. I have previous teaching experience and I like to cater my classes to fit the needs of my students. I focus on a direct method approach and want to help strengthen the conversational skills of my students to sound more like native English speakers. I use on-the-spot correction techniques to keep the energy and quick pace of the class, it keeps it more engaging and fun. Working on pronunciation, intonation, syntax, grammar, and all the nitty-gritty parts of the English language, I help to build on those elements. I would also like to help the literacy skills of my students through exercises and recommended reading based on the level of English. I love getting to know my students and building connections with them and I feel it's detrimental as a teacher to have a connection to your students. I have a keen interest in knowing my pupil's interests and hobbies and can navigate the class around those to keep the class entertaining. While I find that learning a language may be difficult I also think that we must incorporate the cultural aspects too. I have a huge interest in music and film, and I feel blending those into your learning of a language can be quite useful and is a good way to learn and build on learning a language. I am a frequent traveler and have been to many countries in Europe which has enabled me to learn about different cultures. I am a strong Irish speaker and I can speak Spanish conversationally.
