Hello! My name's Kate, I'm a fluent Spanish speaker from Scotland with a BA in Spanish and Politics from the University of Bristol. I really enjoy sharing the skills I've acquired along the way, helping students feel more confident in expressing themselves in a different language, and instilling a love of learning.

I work with various levels of Spanish-language learners, from beginners up to and including A level/Advanced Higher students. I'm happy to work with a student's set coursework and/or exam preparation to help them achieve their academic goals, and/or engage in Spanish conversational practice. I spent some of my childhood in Spain and have lived and worked in Spain, Colombia, and Cuba - as a result I'm lucky enough to have a near native accent, which provides a good model for young people hoping to become accustomed to the sounds and cadence of the Spanish language.

I have practical 'hands on' experience of language teaching and spent a year teaching children from the ages of 3 to 18 English as a foreign language in Spain. As part of that role I became adept at using standardised teaching materials and creating my own, monitoring students' progress, and preparing them for tests and exams.

Throughout my BA I completed multiple modules on the academic theory behind language teaching and a range of pedagogical approaches. I believe each student has a unique learning style - the beauty of one-on-one tuition is the ability to tailor the teaching approach to best suit the individual.

Fundamentally I believe language learning should be an enjoyable, fulfilling experience - I thrive on assisting a student develop not only in terms of their academic attainment, but also in their self-belief.
