Kate O'mahony

Having recently completed a degree in Sociology and Social Policy, I feel comfortable addressing and breaking down difficult concepts and their application to modern issues. I have experience in tutoring English, and supporting young people with their essay writing and/or grammar skills.

In terms of format: I am happy to adapt to your needs and your desired outcome for the session: whether that be a focus on Marxism (or other sociological ideas and concepts) or support in forming introductions/ conclusions / critical analysis for essay writing. I find it best to use examples, and often find that the most effective way to break down complex and often intimidating theories is through its application to modern ideas and concepts, so that you can see these theories in action. Furthermore, I am happy to create powerpoints and resources in advance in relation to topics or areas of concern that you may have. These sessions are for your benefit - so I am happy to respond to your needs / questions or concerns.

It's also really important that you feel comfortable asking for help or clarification - so to ensure a useful rapport and dynamic within our tutoring sessions, each session begins with a more casual conversation/discussion about things you may have learnt that week etc.
