I'm a qualified teacher of TEFL at Masters level and recently gained a postgraduate diploma in teaching Polish as a Foreign Language. I'm a native speaker of Polish and I have been teaching it as a heritage language at Polish school in the UK for 9 years. I have worked with people from different linguistic backgrounds and ages. I gained my experience in Poland, Greece and the UK. I have an extensive experience of one to one lessons focused on students' needs as I have worked as private tutor for 8 years. I have worked with adults who wanted to learn or improve their language they needed for their jobs or daily life.
During my lessons there is always great emphasis on communication. Apart from using coursebooks, I design my own teaching materials, especially to introduce and practise vocabulary. I pay a lot of attention to grammar as knowing how to put words together gives students security and helps to break communication barriers. Grammar and vocabulary are never taught on their own. They are always practiced with four language skills: speaking, listening, reading or writing. My lessons are varied and the pace of the lesson is adjusted to students' level and age.
I like helping people and teaching gives me a great feeling of helping people to achieve their goals.
I have tried to learn a few languages: Spanish, Greek, German so being a students myself helps me to better understand difficulties learners may experience and use different strategies to try to overcome them.
