I like to break down concepts that I teach into smaller chunks, making it easier to understand and retain knowledge. I incorporate games and visuals to help students understand concepts as different students learn in different ways.

My sessions begin with a mental warm up exercise, which is then followed by a rapid review of our previous session. For the main learning, I incorporate an I do, we do and you do strategy which is proven to be an extremely effective method for learning. I use engaging resources for my students and ensure that the content is not too easy or too difficult. The session ends with a recap.

I like to assess them using an informal test where they can speak and ask questions. I also carry out formal tests where pupils have no support to prepare them for exams. I review my student's learning at the end of each session and we discuss targets and set them for the near future.

I have experience supporting pupils for their 7+ and 11+ exams as well as SATs. Teaching students in year 5 and 6 for my main job has also provided me opportunities to support students for their SATs.
