First lessons may be daunting which is why I always make sure to start them calmly, allowing for introductions and interests of the student to be made so that any tensions can be eased and their confidence can grow, as a tutor I am here to help after all. Getting to know their level of knowledge and desired grades as well as their current grade to help asses their level of help needed is also necessary, then typically moving onto some practice papers and questions to which I can base their strengths and highlight any weaknesses that need improving.
My lessons are a mixture of ; teaching content (especially for year 12 students to help solidify any content they are being learnt or for year 13 students refreshers of content covered in year 12) , active recall (quick fire questions at the beginning of the session to encourage long term memory of content) and exam practice (such as past papers and exam questions which I mark and then provide feedback)
Highlighting the importance of efficient revision so that the knowledge and content learnt can be correctly recalled.
As I have recently completed my A-levels and my application to university, I am also more than happy to help with writing personal statements and applications as a successful Veterinary Medicine student.
