Karin Rezelman – Learner Support Teacher
Hi, I’m Karin Rezelman, mother of three adult children. When I’m not in the classroom, you can find me either hiking up a mountain, or happily engaged in an art or craft project at home.
After graduating from the Cape Town College of Education in 1989, where I specialised in remedial education, I taught Grade One , Two and Three classes at a Primary School in Cape Town. I took a few years off from teaching to raise my family, and returned to the classroom as a locum teacher, stepping in where needed at local schools. In 2009, I joined Reddam House (a division of Inspired Schools) as a part-time Support Teacher, I provided assessments of reading, phonic, comprehension and numerical ability, and devised and implemented individual supplementary programmes for learners in need of academic assistance. I was appointed as Head of Learning Support in 2018 where I felt inspired to assist learners at risk, as well nurture the potential of children who require academic extension.
In 2021, I joined the American International School of Cape Town as a part-time Support Teacher for Grades One to Seven. I provide one-on one Literacy and Numeracy support to students with special needs such as ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia or Anxiety.
Due to my part-time schedule, I am available to provide support online as an English or Math tutor in the afternoons or hybrid during my June-July-December-January school holidays. In my tutor sessions; I can support students according to whatever curriculum content is provided for me to use via a Google/ Zoom Meet video call with a shared screen presentation if necessary
