Karen Kakou

hello! my name is Karen but you can call me Kae. My aim is to allow students to enjoy studying so it doesn’t feel like a chore and they retain the information. I spend my time learning about the student , how they work, their interests and basing a revision schedule and teaching method around that information. To me, studying should be something that is fun because when you have a good time, you remember and understand it so well! I like to plan tutor lessons, resources and different questions for the student to do as organisation is something very important to me so i do expect the student to be prepared for a lesson, however i wont make a big fuss about it if they arent :). A clear working environment leads to a clear mind. I also believe in extending learning and teaching others how to be independent so i do set ‘homework’ but it is more of a check to see if the student understands. Once we have finished learning a topic, i like to do mini tests just to ensure the student remembers what they have been taught (i will also throw in questions from other topics to make sure they aren't forgetting anything). I do like to put students feelings first so if they are feeling overwhelmed or extremely tired, learning material wont be useful as they wont be able to keep the information in their heads, so i like to do more relaxed lessons whether it is going over a light topic or recalling previous lesson material.
