I am a passionate believer that a good tutor should empower their students to believe in themselves and their abilities. Learning a second language is a life changing experience and I believe that anyone, regardless of their age or previous education, can master a second language and open new and exciting chapters in their lives.
As a tutor, I do my utmost to support my students to have confidence in themselves and strive to make learning as fun and accessible as possible. As someone who learnt Spanish later in life, I have lived experience of how empowering it can be to learn a second language and achieve what you once thought was impossible.
I come from London and have a First Class Degree in Social Policy and Sociology from the University of Bristol and an MA in Social and Political Thought from the University of Sussex. Alongside teaching Spanish, I have previously tutored in politics, sociology and philosophy. Previously I have also worked as a parliamentary assistant to a Labour MP in the House of Commons and as head of communications for a trade union representing Spanish speaking migrant workers in London.
I most recently finished working for a renters union where I supported many Spanish speaking renters in London and next year I will be moving to Argentina to continue my tutoring journey and to embark on a new career translating politics and philosophy texts from Spanish to English. So, if you’re thinking of learning Spanish because you want to travel, take up new job opportunities, excel in your GCSE or simply wish to learn the language for its own sake, don’t hesitate to get in contact and send me a message. I’m always happy to speak to students thinking of enrolling in my class.
