Hello!

My name is Ms. Katie, and I am offering virtual lessons. The content of my lessons focuses on leaving students with an even blend of theory and practice which I relay in a conversational manner. I focus on leaving students with subject independence where they do not need to rely on teachers for mastery forever; I teach them how a teacher understands what they're teaching, so they know how to play on their own, and then add more content to their library of knowledge each week.

I've run a private in-person tutoring business for 9 years and have plenty of experience with ages 3-18. I work from a holistic view that does not only aim to leave students with the skill to play songs, but where they learn the skills for effective, efficient practice to prevent burnout and protect motivation. My students walk away from classes with strong sight reading skills that limit the amount of time they need to invest for mastery of a song, creative interpretations, and often go on to win music-related awards in their school competitions.
