I have experienced both online and in class dynamics and can adapt to various situations. I tend to use a more communicative approach to teaching. These include methods like, role-playing, having a lot of different discussions in the class, pair and group work, exchanging information etc. I encourage my learners to relate the language they have learnt to real-life situations in order for it to be more beneficial for them. They are encouraged to use the language as much as possible as I value student talking time over teacher talking time.
In my experience, students are often more motivated to learn when they can relate themselves to the situation. If they are a group of parents, learning language that can help them with their children is what motivates them the most. For example, learning the language surrounding parents evening or how to answer questions that will help them with their child's homework. I try to use an approach that is the most encouraging and useful for the students.
I am passionate about making a meaningful impact as a TESOL teacher and helping my learners to succeed their learning outcomes. My experience working with different types of learners has allowed me to build an understanding and empathetic mindset for the students. I want to help them thrive in their new linguistic environments. English is a global language and many people require it for their day-day lifestyles. I have heard many stories and understand the impact that knowing and learning English has on people and their quality of life. I wish to be a part of this and help them to the best of my abilities.
