I like to tailor my lessons to the specific student, that means that most of my lessons will not be the same even if you are taking the same subject at the same level as someone else. The first 2 lessons of me will consist of grasping your level and understanding of the subject, then it will be understanding the most effective learning techniques for you. I want to know if you are a reader, or writer, maybe you are visual learner or maybe you work best with what you hear. It is important for me to understand who i am teaching. After that, your lessons will usually consist of 10 minutes of recalling what you learnt in the last lesson, and the presentation of any homework, 40 minutes of learning, 5-10 minutes of an informal quiz on what you have just learnt, and then 5-10 minutes for any questions you didn’t ask throughout the lesson, and going over already marked homework. There will also be impromptu tests, sometimes at a scheduled time and sometimes when you least expect it, to make sure information is being retained. Because History is sometimes a content heavy subject, i will split my lessons according to the the topics you may be struggling with, as well as what you are currently learning in school. I also offer a tailored curriculum that can fall outside the curriculum taught in your school. I always recommend reading outside your curriculum because it engages you, and teaches you much needed skills like how to read and research effectively while inspiring an interest in the subject.
