At the beginning students will discuss their approach to studying & exams, with explanations of what they struggle with in particular. As a tutor, i will use this to understand where to build students skills. As the first few meetings (likey to be 2 sessions) pass, we will begin to cover the texts students have been given from their schools. Students will be taught to master examinations by understanding the unique assessment objectives of different english exams. Gradually as students start to feel more confident in understanding their texts including core ideas, contexts & themes, we will begin practicing with past exam papers including going over exemplary response provided by exam boards to build an understanding of what makes particular exam responses excellent. Students will be taught to embed these skills in their work through revision sessions & ultimately be able to create authentic exam responses that prove examiners of their understanding of the texts.
