Jumimah Ilyas-Ismail

Hi everyone!

My name is Jumimah and I am a final year student at UCL studying Spanish at level C2. I spent my year abroad in Seville (Spain) teaching English as a foreign language to primary school children. I also have experience tutoring GCSE students Spanish. Furthermore, I am a Student Mentor with a charity called East London Connect where I help students with special educational needs navigate the university application process.

I am passionate about the power of language learning in bridging gaps between diverse cultures and fostering communication. I truly believe that learning another language is the magic key to experiencing diverse cultures and traditions as I did during my Year Abroad. I hope to instil the same passion for languages in my students that I myself have developed throughout my academic journey.

My 1-1 lessons are tailored personally to your needs and learning style. Before we begin our classes I like to understand what you want to get out of the lessons so that we can work together to achieve that in the most efficient way possible. My lessons are usually structured in an explanation section and then an activity section to practice what we have covered. I focus on all three competencies: Writing, Listening and Speaking.
