My lessons consist of a multi-faceted approach to learning: we will cover the curriculum depending on the diploma being completed and once topics of concern or confusion are covered over a period of time, I provide a personal teaching approach wherein practice and repetition are key. Each lesson last an hour which is split up into three parts: in the first 5 minutes, I chat with my students to get a sense of how they're feeling, whether the topic we are going to cover is causing any anxiety and alleviate those anxieties. I then spend 45 minutes tutoring and teaching, covering the topic succinctly but with patience and attention. The last ten minutes consist of a recap where I ask my student to give me three outcomes of the lesson. In my experience, this approach has been beneficial for the attention of my students as well as to ensure maximum efficiency. I don't usually assign homework, but I do make sure to create a plan with my students for their study schedules so that even when we are not in session, they are learning to become autonomous and independent in their approach to their work. Every student I have ever taught has successfully completed their end of year exams and gone on to speak the language taught fluently at university and on their gap years.
I am a firm believer that having a tutor can alleviate so much stress and that is my primary job: to help alleviate academic anxieties through organisation, consistent routine and personal connection.
