I have been working as an online ESL teacher for the past 7 years. During this time I have taught children, teenagers, and adults from different cultural backgrounds.
When I first meet my students, I seek to understand their needs, goals and determine their language level. This assessment will help me identify the best teaching method for each individual, therefore I can customize my lessons in line with students' strengths, goals, interests, and learning abilities. My objective is to ensure that all students advance in their learning process and feel more confident. When required, I design class material, always looking for creative ways to make learning easy, fun and engaging.
I am aware that speaking a foreign language can be difficult and scary, so I give my students the confidence by gently correcting them or helping them correct themselves. I like to build rapport, so they feel comfortable when receiving feedback and corrections
Here is an example of my class aimed at improving reading comprehension, listening skills and enhancing vocabulary for intermediate level adults :
1. Have student read /listen to a short text or dialogue (relevant to their real life)- correct pronunciation when they finish reading
2. Discuss the text read-have students: answer and ask questions, summarize, explain, associate with their experience, check for new vocabulary.
3. Teacher checks for weaknesses-sentence structure, grammar, vocabulary
4. Role play in dialogues
5. When applicable, we can implement games such as Charades or Password.

I have a BS. in Engineering, but coaching, teaching and training is my passion. I am TESOL certified.
