Hi I'm Julie.
I started my teaching career in 2005 after graduating from the University of Leeds with a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics, following gaining a 2:1(Hons) in Mathematical Sciences with the Open University. I taught in mainstream schools until 2012.
I began tutoring in 2012 and I have had much success in increasing student achievement. I like to have a relaxed, friendly relationship with the student to foster trust and confidence. I use a range of differentiated materials and tasks for the student to use and a lot of fun tasks such as quizzes and puzzles. I also like to set homework and carry out assessment tests to ensure that the student is learning each topic area.
During lessons I ask the student to help me develop new concepts by asking them what they think the next step should be. During the lesson, I also like to let the student practice their new skills, with time put aside for independent work. This is to ensure that any misconceptions are dealt with promptly.
I tutor both Maths and Physics at KS3 and GCSE, and Maths and Further Maths at A Level.
I look forward to hearing from you.
