I recognize that each learner is unique. I have taught in University colleges for nineteen years now. I begin by assessing your English language level with a simple test. This is the needs analysis stage. Thereafter, we both meet and agree on your language goals. This is important because learners have different goals. As we progress with lessons, I keep checking whether I am meeting your goals and whether we need to adjust them. I design an evaluation form to be filled out by the learner periodically.
I proceed to tailor make lessons with lesson plans, that may or may not use all the langauge learning skills of listening, reading, writing and speaking. This will depend on the learner's level. Each lesson plan will clearly indicate the learning objective of the lesson. The lessons include practise exercises which I mark in a timely manner after every lesson. I am a believer in well arranged and sufficient practise for my learners. This will reveal the areas where the learner needs more help and reveals how learning is progressing. We will progress through the lessons at your pace.
I also take the trouble to learn the preferred learning sytle of the learner. For example some learners learn faster visually, others prefer auditory learning, others practise by reading and writing and others prefer kinaesthetic learning, logical, physical, solitary etc. I prefer to work with the learning style that will maximize learning for my learners.
The lessons are also age specific with more visuals for younger learners.
