I have a Bachelor's degree in English and French linguistics at the University College of Cork and have a strong passion for teaching, with two years experience as both an English and a French tutor. I am a native English speaker and have lived in France for a year so have a fluency in both the languages. I have experience in teaching a wide age range of students from 10 years plus.
On top of this, I have several years experience of teaching speech and drama classes so I like to keep my classes interactive and fun while still esuring the student's constant learning. I like to spend the first class getting to know the student and getting a grasp of their level in the language in order to build on this and create a suitable lesson plan around their level and competencies. I enjoy getting to know my students as I like to include their interests in the lessons to enhance the enjoyment of their learning experience. I believe it is important not to bombard or overwhelm a student with too much information and would prefer that they leave the class with a firm grasp on a certain subject rather than a basic knowledge of a larger range of subjects. I like to focus on a certain aspect of grammar or vocab per lesson or maybe over two depending of the students grasp of the topic and believe in dedicating five or ten minutes at the end of each lesson to review what has been taught to ensure the students understanding of the lesson.
