My teaching approach is based on the pedagogical framework of action-oriented learning, which emphasizes the practical application of language skills in real-life situations. I strive to create a dynamic and interactive learning environment where students actively engage in communicative tasks and meaningful interactions.
As for my preferred lesson structure, I begin by raising awareness about the initial topic, utilizing preliminary materials to provide both a general and in-depth understanding. Following that, the session progresses with guided practice and explanations related to the topic. Opportunities for individual and group work are then presented to encourage autonomy and generate questions regarding the subject matter. Finally, I assign tasks to be completed and conclude the session with feedback on the material covered.
In addition to the core structure mentioned earlier, I also incorporate conversational sessions with native speakers of the target language. These sessions provide valuable opportunities for students to practice their language skills in authentic contexts and gain exposure to different accents, cultural nuances, and conversational styles.
To carry out these sessions effectively and facilitate these conversational sessions, I make use of various platforms and tools commonly employed by language teachers. Some of these platforms include:
Zoom: Zoom is a popular video conferencing platform that allows for seamless communication and interaction between teachers and students during online sessions.
Google Classroom: Google Classroom provides a virtual classroom environment where teachers can share resources, assign tasks, and provide feedback to students.
Padlet: Padlet is a digital bulletin board where teachers can create collaborative spaces for students to share ideas, resources, and engage in interactive activities.
Quizlet: Quizlet is a versatile platform that offers a wide range of study tools, including flashcards, quizzes, and games, to facilitate vocabulary acquisition and reinforcement.
Canva: Creation of visually appealing materials: Canva allows teachers to easily and quickly design visually appealing materials such as posters, presentations, infographics, and flashcards.
