I have been a private tutor for three students. Two of which were about to write an examination of which they passed with distinctions, and the other which i taught wanted English as a second language, and now she is fluent in English.
I basically start from the extreme scratch, trying to teach the basics before any other thing. I give practice and practical assignments such as talking to and writing to an English speaker, and rating the understanding of the English speaker. I slowly try to understand the accent of my student and some basic words in my students language and relate them to English for a better understanding, and slowly but steadily i teach them how to speak and write English properly.
