Joshua Oakes

I am a CELTA certified English teacher with undergraduate degrees in Linguistics and Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures from the University of Tennessee. My CELTA certification is from University College Cork and I taught all levels of English at Cork English World upon completion of the program at UCC. In 2018/ 19 I was stationed in Poland with a NATO force where I taught survival Polish to the American forces on base. In addition to teaching in Ireland and Poland I have experience working in public schools in Tennessee and in Virginia in the US.
I have experience as a freelance writer in the US and Ireland and am more than happy to help with editing or improving writing skills. My linguistic background and experience with various dialects of English help me to tailor my lessons to my students' specific needs. English in Ireland is different from English and varies greatly even in the US. As a linguist I love breaking down different grammars, but I also understand how English is different across the world, from accents to grammar and spelling.
