Joshua O'neill

Hello my name is Joshua. I love maths and I hope that I can help your child to love it too, in the most successful way for their education. My main aim, is to get the best possible results for your child, and I believe one of the most important things to do in this process is encourage them and find ways to enjoy Mathematics. I'm currently studying Mathematics and Statistics at a top 10 UK University, and my favourite part of math is trying to think like a mathematician. I enjoy different ways of thinking and solving problems, which I feel is a vital skill in tutoring, as it allows me more opportunities to explain to students. I take students of all abilities and will draw up a careful plan of action based on their strengths/weaknesses and trying to turn their ambition into reality. I can tutor weekdays and weekends, and can do double/multiple sessions per week. I like to understand the students abilities, work on their weaknesses to get a core understanding, and then push into the harder stuff when the time is right, all while trying to make it fun for your child, being patient and working with them, as I know learning math isn't easy. I will also set homework (short recaps) and mark them to ensure it is consolidates, as the key goal for me is building understanding, not trying to memorise the method and forget it again before exams. Over the course of a school year, I believe this is key for excelling in end of year exams.
