I have experience in 1-to-1 mentoring from my 2 years working with year 11 students preparing them for their GCSE maths exams, all of whom met or exceeded their target grades. I spent a year mentoring full time in a school, where I worked in classrooms, and separately with groups and individuals. I have experience in 1-to-1 mentoring from my 2 years working with year 11 students preparing them for their GCSE maths exams, all of whom met or exceeded their target grades. I spent a year mentoring full time in a school, where I worked in classrooms, and separately with groups and individuals. This was with students from year 7 to year 11, giving me a complete oversight of the curriculum.
During that year I was also presented with the opportunity to teach 2 of my own classes, which helped me better understand how to prepare lesson plans, mark exams, and assess students weaker areas. It also helped me develop a more well-rounded teaching style.
Primarily my experience is working 1-to-1 with students, meaning I am well prepared to help you through your studies, all the way to your exams. A typical lesson will start with working through a quick starter reviewing what we've been doing recently, followed by a brief explanation of our topic for the day going through a few examples, before allowing you to work through some questions by yourself, marking as we go. Most lessons will finish with a quick review of what you've learnt, ensuring that you are confident with it. However our first few lessons will be establishing where you are at currently and where your weak points are within maths.
The most important thing to me is that you become confident in your maths abilities, and come out of your exams feeling that you did your absolute best.
