Our lessons will usually focus on a single topic and a single language skill.
This skill could be reading, writing, listening, or speaking.

The topic of the lesson could be any subject or language structure. For example: some new vocabulary, a new grammatical structure, conversation and etiquette for a certain situation, how to read and analyse a certain type of document, or any other piece of language you need to learn.

We will decide on which topics are the most useful for you to learn when we first meet and have a conversation about your goals and needs.

The general format of beginner and intermediate lessons will be:

-First, introduce the new material or topic. This could be through conversation and demonstration, by visiting a website to read an article or video, or by listening to a recording.

-Second, practise using the new material to improve your understanding. This will be through conversation or different tasks I will design for your lesson.

-Finally, produce the new material in a range of ways emulating real-life situations. This will confirm that you have understood the new material and its use.

In the following lessons, we will return to topics and material we have covered previously, to consolidate your learning and make sure you retain the material for real-life situations.


This is the basic model that our lessons will usually follow for beginner to intermediate English.

As your English improves, or if you are already an advanced English speaker, we will use a more open and free-flowing structure based more on real conversation and discussion.
