I have spent the last 2 years building my teaching experience in a school setting and have helped students from 11-16 succeed in exams. However, it’s important to note that exams aren’t everything, and the majority of my students leave their lessons with more confidence in Spanish - which is essential! In addition to teaching in the English education setting, I also have a year’s experience teaching English in Spain, giving me a unique level of experience in Spanish fluency and accent, as well as how to teach English as a foreign language. I am also able to teach German to an advanced level and French to more of a basic level.
My lessons consist of a combination of the 4 main skills, these are: Speaking, Writing, Listening and Reading. I focus the start of lessons on the receptive side, I.e. listening and reading in order to acquire the key language for that topic. We would then look at reproducing that language in Speaking and Writing practice in which we will use that key language. Finally, we’ll have the opportunity for independent practice whereby you will personalise your work based on what we have learnt.
Depending on the function and focus of the language, we would look to complete assessments in the form of written exams, spoken presentations, or perhaps even comprehension tests. After grasping your progress, I am then able to customise your learning journey even further focusing on weaknesses or strengths and drawing on a wealth of resources from pre-GCSE textbooks, A-level texts, University textbooks and even Spanish literature and textbooks.
