Affordable, flexible, and personal English lessons! My lessons consist of lecturers and practical exercises, providing either lessons on a topic that a student feels they need development on, or workshops so that skills in literary analysis and the use of terminology can be put into practice. My style of teaching will depend on the topic, though workshops and a more interactive style of one-to-one teaching is the most effective for learning how to put theory (linguistic terminology, literary analysis, essay structure, and spelling) into practice, so that students may write a more compelling and convincing essay, and use those skills in other areas. My lessons will cover guidance on linguistic terminology, set novels or poems, essay structure, and spelling. I have completed GCSE English, during which we studied To Kill a Mocking Bird, Hamlet, Frankenstein, and a number of Shakespeare's sonnets. During my A Levels I studied biographies, A Street Car Named Desire, The Colour Purple, The Great Gatsby, King Lear, Nineteen-Eighty Four and Brave New World. I am able to specialise in these texts, but am also happy to discuss other texts such as Romeo and Juliet, An Inspector Call and any other poems. I have experience in tutoring at the university, where I have offered my time to help first year students develop essay argument and research skills needed at a university level. Having taught at this level, I am confident in my abilities to transfer essential skills in English literature and language to students of all ages and stages.
