I like to ensure that my lessons start with a recap from prior learning to get the engine going before we get straight into developing at the speed of the student - that's the most important part, we learn at our own rate, and too fast is only demotivating. Language learning needs to be fun, relative, and engaging!

My background prior to language tuition has been teaching people outdoors and adventurous activities, and it's amazing to see what the chemicals in our bloodstream do to us when we're outside of our comfort zone. Just because you're not standing on a cliff edge or swinging from a rope doesn't mean that you're not outside of your comfort zone.

THIS IS LESSON NUMEBR ONE: When you learn, you're bound to make mistakes, and that's how we learn.

In my lessons, you will make mistakes, but that's how I know you're trying and where we need to fill in those gaps in your knowledge.

My lesson style is geared towards getting a student to produce (by way of speaking, initially) as much target language as possible (even in the small ways such as "good morning", "thanks", and other general chit chat) to prime the brain for easy access to the language being learnt. Even if it's from a cheat sheet, as much immersion in and attempt of a language as possible is the best way to get the brain fired up and used to producing a language - if you think about it, if you don't speak to anyone all day in your own language, it takes a moment before you remember how, right?

The way I see it, I aim for speech first because we learn to speak before we can write as children, and this is just the same!

Alongside this, i try to ensure that the rules of a languages are set, so along with with topical conversation and practice aimed at encouraging language production (speaking and short writing to begin with), there will be short grammar bursts to lay out new content before putting into practice.

Learning a new language was hard when you were younger, but by consciously choosing to try, you've already started succeeding.
