I'm 23 years old, I have 16 years of playing experience and a merit in the grade 8 acoustic playing exam. I like to have a quick chat with students before beginning to understand what their goals are with their playing, and then structure lessons based on those goals.
This gives me the chance to understand what level of playing students already have, allowing me to craft custom lessons for each individual. For some ill be going from the basics, open chords, anatomy of the instrument, posture and techniques to build good playing habits. And for others who already have this knowledge we'll get straight to playing.
I have experience working with all ages, from primary age to more mature players.
Whether my students would like to go through the grade books and earn certificates ( like I did), or would like to learn to play their favourite songs and music pieces, I take a passive and professional approach to listening and observing, in order to maximise the effect of my teaching, and make the most of each lesson.
I also like to incorporate students own musical interests into my lessons to keep things relevant and exciting for them. From genres to specific songs, they will have control over the nature of the lessons.
