In 2004, I started college at the age of 16, getting accepted into the Texas Academy of Math and Science at The University of North Texas. I soon began working on my craft teaching Math & Science as Volunteer Math Tutor with Denton ISD. At the same time, I also worked for the UNT Math Department as a College Algebra Grader and TA. I then went on to work for a few different learning centers, including Paragon, Sylvan, and Nobel Academy Learning Centers. I specialized in teaching Advanced Math, Science, and ACT/SAT/GED Prep. I currently teach part-time as a Substitute Teacher for both the Garland ISD and Kokua Education. I'm also the sole Owner & Operator of 360tutorz tutoring service, established in and operated since August of 2009. I also have experience working as the Math Director of a nonprofit organization called Betty's Caring Hands.
I've been learning, teaching, tutoring, and mentoring for as long as I can remember. I'm a very gifted teacher and it's very enjoyable to me, much like a hobby. As technology advances, I've learned to adapt and adjust my teaching techniques, dependent of what type of learner I am working with. I've become very aware of common mistakes that most students make, and take preventable measures so that my students don't make these same mistakes.
All of my online lessons are done through the Zoom App/Website using their screen sharing and whiteboard features. I like to give my students warm-up problems at the beginning of each lesson just to get their mind going. I then like to address any questions that the student may have on current topics or homework. I then like to address our current "gameplan" for any upcoming tests/quizzes. And lastly, if time permits, I like to take a brief look ahead to the next topic just to help my student be more prepared for what lies ahead.
This supports my development as a teacher because my students are able to learn more efficiently. This means that they will be able to learn more subject material in a shorter amount of time. With better techniques and a little review, my students can retain 100% of what they learn!
