My name is Jordan and I have a deep love of English and History. I am currently studying for my degree thus far achieving an average of 90%. I teach both History and English so please just let me know which aspect you wish to learn!
As for me, I have developed a deep understanding of my own style and 'authorial voice' within English and am now looking to help you discover your potential. If you want to learn how to sway a reader with your words, make them weep with your protagonist, wish to crush the antagonist or simply leave them with a smile get in touch today! If you are studying Literature foremost, I am also adept in helping you discover these techniques to help make you a better reader alongside a writer!
In regard to History, my degree is double specialised to include classical history as a core tenet. That being said I possess a wide degree of knowledge about many aspects of European History as my various studies have taught many different time periods. If you wish to learn how a historian thinks, how they research and ultimately how they put their findings to paper, allow me to help you on your journey throughout the ages!
I operate a 1:1 tutoring schedule where the main focus is on bringing out the best of what you create. With English, we will work through all stages of writing, whether you are studying and writing in a creative format, a professional format or are studying pre-written literature. We will explore the drafting process of a piece of work and identify key choices that the writer may make to improve their prose. We will go through all manners of what makes a piece of writing stand out and help to hone your 'authorial voice.' I like to keep my lessons practical so we will ideally be spending the majority of the time engaged in activities as with most things, the best way to get better at English is to practice!
With History, the main focus comes on learning why and how things happen. There will be no memorising dates like your multiplication tables! The key facets of a historian are now rattling off dates like a robot, but engaging in discussion and often debate about what things mean, what they tell us and what we can surmise. We will go through all these things but most importantly I want to hear your opinions of them, as the best work you can create will come from within.
If you have any questions or queries please don't hesitate to get in touch, I love hearing from all aspiring students and am deeply respectful of anyone wishing to learn and improve themselves. Just by seeking a tutor, you are already on the right track!
