About Me
I am an enthusiastic individual who loves science and making it accessible to everyone.
I am a real scientist with 10+ years of experience in both the academic and private sectors of research. I hold a PhD in biophysical chemistry from the University of Sheffield, an undergraduate degree in biochemistry from the University of East Anglia and a postgraduate certificate in education from Liverpool Hope University. I have experience teaching and mentoring students with all abilities across a huge range of education milestones from high school, college, Undergraduate, Masters and PhD level. This has given me unique insight into what it takes to suceed at each of these levels and beyond.
Teaching Style
During this time I have been able to refine my teaching style and methods to suit a myriad of learners. My teaching style focuses on understanding the fundamental concepts of chemistry and developing a students problem solving ability before more complicated topics are tackled. Over the the years I have found this approach ensures students are calm, confident and are better able to tackle exam questions that are both routine and "unfamilar". I always try to impart the skills students need to make them life-long learners as this is a critical component they will need to do well academically and professionally.
I keep students engaged and focused during lessons with my knowledge, enthusiasm and real experience that come together in lessons that are both useful and challenging. I have experience of teaching Edexcel and AQA exam boards.
