Below is an example of how I plan one of my lessons.
This involves me planning and delivering a tailored lesson which takes into consideration the prior learning of the students.
The lesson is broken down into mini parts. So initially for the first 10mins of the lesson they will do a 10 starter questions which will be 1 mark each that are very basic. The starter question will give me an idea of how much in depth I need to go and give an assessment of their ability and where to pitch the main part of the lesson.
I will introduce the new concept with a talk task which is lead by me. The student will be demonstrated the skill and how to apply the skills in worded problems. They will have 10more mins of "I do, you do" style questions.
There will be opportunities to develop their learning by doing some independent questions. Then they will be given some exam questions to do which I will go through with them.
The lesson ends by reflecting and verbalise what they have learnt.How it maybe relevant to real life world and other aspects of maths. Making that link will help them to remember the concept and see the rationale behind it.
My pedagogy behind my teaching styles in based on research where I consider the student confidence level and motivation level. It’s important for the student to build good rapport and value my credibility and see that I have passion for them doing well and their success matters to me.
It’s so important to build a good rapport with the student that I teach which enables me to improve their learning as they are open to learn with a teacher that connects.
