I am 18 years old. I have left school now and I study medicine at the University of Dundee. I have been speaking spanish for 6 years, since I was 12. While in school I studied the language and achieved A grades in my National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher qualifications. My lessons would be fairly similar to those in school, except less general and boring. Instead I would take a personal, tailored approach to figure out what works well for each individual student and how to help you learn best. I take an almost scientific approach to teaching, using a technique called spiral learning. This is where I start lessons simply, introducing a new concept. As the lesson goes on we build on difficulty and constantly revisit the topic, allowing you to steadily build your knowledge, and develop strategies to help you retain and build on your new knowledge. I also believe in the power of active recall, meaning that in every session, I will include things we learned in previous sessions to test how well you are retaining information, and to remind you of what we learned previously. It also allows me to adjust our sessions so that if there is something you find particularly challenging, we can focus more on it. I have flash card sets that I used myself when studying for my exams and slideshows that I will present while teaching. As I am studying to be a doctor, I know the importance of taking a relaxed, personal approach to people and how to communicate effectively with everyone I come across, so you can be assured that you will enjoy my sessions.
