When I was 15 for my work experience, I worked at the London Sound Company in Oxford
Circus. It was mainly cleaning jobs and making coffee for other members of staff and the
clients that would come in. However, I was given a chance to observe the sound engineering
process of music and voiceovers that had occurred there. I even helped with the sound
engineering on some of the sessions.
As I have grown older, as well as recording instruments in recording studios with various
bands and for solo projects, I have also done work engineering for various other artists in
different music studios. Particularly an independent one in Camberwell. I have also done
work maintaining the space and making sure that other artists who arrive are able to work
efficiently and then making sure the studio afterwards is as clean as it was before.
Due to my autism, I have an eye for detail and can therefore be extremely articulate and make
sure everything is well organized for everyone involved in any recording process. I am also
able to adapt for different times. Also because I have previously worked in hospitality, I would
have no trouble socializing with anyone who came to use the studio and making them feel
welcome. I even enjoy striking up humorous conversation just to break the ice.
Other Work
I have worked as a recording and live sound engineer in music studios for other artists as
well as playing instruments as a session musician. Currently I’m playing in 3 bands, including
my solo work and work freelance as a record/sound engineer. However, I am Flexible and
dependable with time and planning ahead so that various jobs will not clash. I used to work
at Camberwell Choir School on Saturdays, teaching primary school children music. This
helped me with my socializing and how I can channel my musical obsessions into helping
others further their interests in music too
