What Are My Lessons Like?
My lessons are dynamic, engaging, and tailored to your individual goals and musical interests. Whether you’re a beginner just starting out or an advanced player looking to refine your skills, I create a supportive environment where you can grow as a musician while enjoying the learning process.
Lesson Format
Each lesson is customized to suit your needs. We’ll start by identifying your goals—whether it’s mastering your favorite songs, improving technique, learning music theory, or developing improvisation skills. I use a mix of hands-on practice, demonstrations, and interactive exercises to keep lessons varied and exciting. Lessons can also include:
• Warm-ups and Technique: Exercises to build dexterity and confidence on your instrument.
• Repertoire: Playing pieces that match your level and style preferences (classical, jazz, rock, pop, etc.).
• Music Theory: Understanding the structure behind the music to enhance your playing and creativity.
• Improvisation and Songwriting: For those looking to explore their creative side.
• Performance Tips: Coaching on stage presence and how to play with confidence in front of an audience.
Content and Dynamics
I encourage active participation, so lessons are a two-way conversation. I’ll guide you through challenges, celebrate your achievements, and adapt to your learning pace. Whether we’re tackling intricate fingerpicking techniques, breaking down complex jazz solos, or simply learning your first chords, I strive to make every session enjoyable and fulfilling.
My Experience
With a degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and over a decade of professional experience, I’ve performed in venues like the Royal Albert Hall and worked with artists such as Kano and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. I’ve taught students of all ages and abilities, helping them achieve their goals, whether that’s passing graded exams, writing original songs, or performing live.
My goal is simple: to help you discover your unique musical voice and inspire you to love playing as much as I do!
