John Burns

I am currently a Lecturer in Life Science in the FE sector and I teach from SCQF level 5 to 8. My main specialisms include: microbiology, cell biology, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, experimental and laboratory skills, lab safety, biostatistics and biotechnology.

Prior to this, I was a Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Clinical Biochemistry where I worked in hospital labs processing clinical specimens.

My qualifications include:
• MSc Biomedical Science (distinction) - 2020
• BSc(hons) Applied Biomedical Science (1st) - 2015
• IBMS Specialist Diploma in Clinical Biochemistry - 2019

My teaching approach involves developing problem solving skills through the use of multimedia best suited to student needs. I pride myself on making science accessible and building learner confidence in the subject as a whole.
