During our sessions, we will address all topics on the curriculum, and explore the major themes of philosophy, ethics, and Christian Theology.
I will equip you with the information necessary for you to develop a detailed understanding of your subject, via a mixture of lecture-style teaching and debate.
Upon completion of each topic within the curriculum, I will devote sessions to explain how to improve your essay-writing skills, and how to format your argument to increase its efficacy in converting your argument.
We will also examine key sources of wisdom and authority (philosophers, theologians, and ethicists) who you can use to give boost the validity of your arguments, and use as points of critique/limitation against arguments. Here, we will assess why such individuals may support/rebut your arguments by discussing their background, worldview and philosophical tradition.
Finally, when approaching your formal assessment period, we will devote sessions to revision and exam practice. I will help hone in your time-management skills, advising you on how to produce a strong, well-supported argument in your essay within the time restraints of a formal exam. I will provide revision material for you to utilise during your revision period, which will help you to recognise what information is indeed relevant in an examination essay, and how to avoid "waffling" - wasting your precious exam time and word-count.
Of course, if there are any specific areas or topics which you feel less confident in writing about, I am happy to focus on these topics for a greater number of time than those you are confident with.
