As a qualified actuary who graduated with a first in Appled mathematics (St Andrews), I have had many years experience of working with and coaching in mathematics

My online tutorials begin with an evaluation of what the student knows, what problems or concepts they are struggling with and (for second and subsequent lessons) a review of prior week learnings and a follow-up on any outstanding queries or problems. Beynd that I try to keep the structure fairly fluid so it can be customised to specific need.

I also always try to make myself available to students outside formal lesson times wherever possible, as I apprecate from my own experience when learning maths that hitting problems and having to wait up to a week for an answer can be quite frustrating!
